Loading trail data on the fly

Here's a brief explanation of how to load map data from our trails directory. This was done in real time.

  • I used the KML on my little iPhone, and I was able to see, real-time, the exact location of the trail I was on. I also saw the trails' difficultly level (indicated by color:Green,Yellow,&Red), and the trails' waypoints/landmarks. example, "lvl 5 Rock Crawl w/bypass"
    There's a ton of apps out there that do roughly the same things, and right now I'm using the iOS (iPhone) app called "GPS Tracker". Whichever app you choose, it's super, wicked nice to load up a map from home, hit start when you're getting the Jeep for a trip, and let it run. I leave mine running pretty much the whole time, so when you get home you can look back and see exactly what trails you were on. As you can see, I spend a lot of time at the camp site ; )

As we switch the Jeep from 33 to 38 inch tires we took a simple home scale and measured the lb difference. Going to a larger tire usually adds a substantial amount of rolling weight. It's always a good idea to install a bigger set of brakes when upgrading your tires and rims.
