We've been after making a magazine for a long time. The digital and print versions would feature club news, trail listings, tips n tricks and more. By having a magazine, it validates who we are and what we do. As we found out with watva.org, it also serves as a major calling card for events and more. We haven't done a real magazine as it's too time consuming to do that plus events and rides.

While the website is great, with so much content it's easy to miss something. A magazine ensures that the important stuff is covered and delivered. The magazine would be included with your premium membership and mainly paid for by our advertisers.

Now that chapters are coming on board and Trail Ambassadors are in place, 2020 may be the time to make this happen. What do you think?Post your thoughts below!

Only downside is the hours and hours of work to create every month (or quarter). Do you have the bandwidth to take this on without negatively affecting your work or home life? There’s only so much “Ryan” to go around!

If you burn out a lot of other balls you have in the air could hit the ground. If this is a priority to help with goals take something else off your plate equal in time consumption.

Yes I would have to reprioritize things which is becoming easier and easier now that other people are doing rides. This is a make or break if you bite off more than you can chew obviously. Growing our distribution numbers could mean a solid revenue stream if done properly. Bi-monthly would probably be a good place to start and just work with digital until advertisers come on board. This way we only need to print samples if we're going to shows or meetings while we grow.

As someone once responsible for getting a newsletter out every month (sorry, this is not an offer)... it takes more time than you might think... especially if you’re talking magazine where there are layouts and formatting. And if you don’t have reliable dependable contributors, it becomes a lot more work coming up with copy... and frustrating. I can tell that you have a map in your head of where you see things going, and based on what I’ve seen so far... I’d like for us to get there too... so I don’t want a burnt out Ryan either. It could be a really great tool, but you also have a lot of other things you’re working on. Maybe consider if it’s a want or need right now and if you have people to share the responsibility?

Right on. You would need a few contributors. I think quarterly would be fine so everyone doesn’t get burnt out.

I like the idea. You'll need people willing to write articles so you don't have to do it all. Parse out some tasks so you don't have to dip it all. Start with just a quarterly magazine. Do an annual gear issue. Who doesn't love a gear issue.

Yeah around black Friday would be good for a gesr issue. Highlight the new products coming out next year and the current year stuff that's marked down. Ads and articles could come from the sponsors. A few review type articles from members....

Yeah around black Friday would be good for a gesr issue. Highlight the new products coming out next year and the current year stuff that's marked down. Ads and articles could come from the sponsors. A few review type articles from members. Maybe a whole section where 20 or so members submit a 1 paragraph snippet of their favorite gear piece. I'm using the term gear pretty loose here. Could be flashlights, armor, parts, axe, clothes, etc. Most importantly maybe everyone's favorite flask.

If you put the development of this kind of issue in the hands of the sponsors it could reduce the amount of work it would take for this issue. Other issues, you could request articles submissions from members and then do a prize drawing for...

As everyone has stated, quarterly would be great as well as online. The only caveat would be a "print map" and "download waypoint" buttons so you have the option handy.
