They switched the entire thing to 50" or less. No debate left, it's now 50" or less only. If you go to the latest map here - https://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/cnnf/recreation you can check it out for yourself. However at the time of this posting, Avenza and the main USFS map hasn't been changed. That doesn't mean it's not illegal and our point in posting this is to save you from a ticket AND keep this trail abuse FROM CLOSING OTHER TRAILS IN THE AREA.

Like many other government websites, this site sucks and it's tough to figure out. BUT if you refer to the legend on the main map here...

And cross-reference it with the more updated live map here - https://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/cnnf/recreation you can clearly see the "Pipeline" trail has changed so it doesn't allow our rigs.

There are still a lot of fun roads and trails in the area we can go on, but it's sad we lost the main highlight of this trail being the Thunder Mountain rock crawl... maybe we can get that back if we get a local 4x4 club to actually start up and take ownership of the area. Without that, it's a lost cause.

If this changes PLEASE post here and let us know. Nothing is ever "said and done" things can turn around but again, without a local club and Trail Ambassadors... nothing will change.

I was just there a few weeks ago. The trail near the rock crawl was pretty warn due to large run offs, Didn't do the rock crawl as I was solo, however bypassing the obstacle and going another mile or so down the trail, did notice that they have it fenced off. This was my first time on this trail so not sure if that has always been there, but of course, the trail goes around the fence. Trail is extremely overgrown and was a tight fit, put a few battle scars onto the Jeep. Sad to see this post.

Maybe we can get this opened up again. Still lots of people saying it's opened but the USFS map clearly shows it's no longer a 4X4 trail. Hopefully this post can be used to try and change things so it can be reopened.

What about this? From the current MVUM using Avenza. Did they put out a new map this month?

I know people don't want to hear it, and I believe we can probably get Thunder Mountain back at some point, but if law enforcement somehow decides to start enforcing this, I'm just trying to prevent anybody from getting a ticket.

Avenza is going to use the old map. I was told the US Forest service is currently printing their new map and the one I linked is the most up-to-date version that will be the one they print as we speak.

Craaaaaaaaaappppp.. well I mean the pipeline was Killed years ago after most of it was closed anyway.. the remaining pieces were basically impassable/overgrown/blocked by down trees so I guess it’s not a big loss by losing the remaining fraction of it.. still sad to see the death grip release.?
