Yet again the rear master cylinders on the expensive big brake kit are leaking it appears. This is the fixed set sent after the first set leaked in the same spot.

Being that they are months behind on production, the Black Knight may be out if service the entire season of 2021.

Are they truly proprietary calipers or are they just using a different OEM caliper for this?

Taking it back to Dave's Jeeps to verify this morning. This could very well end my season and all my planned tours/rides for most of 2021... or it could be an easy fix.. but looks like it's leaking from the plungers like last time.

Fingers crossed for an easy fix. It would be an incredible let down for a name brand, high-end brake kit manufacturing defect to remove a nearly new vehicle from the road for an entire year.

So both calipers have pistons leaking... not good. Dave is calling Teraflex today to see what the options are. These were replaced once under warranty once already and they had to send me refurbished calipers then even because of stocking issues. Turns out the ones they sent were marred up and I didn't know it.. of don't remember.. was in a time crunch then too.

Those REALLY look like Toyota 13WL calipers. If that's the case, any parts store or rock auto will have what you need to get going. They are for a 2005 Tundra/Sequoia. I run them on my 4Runner. If there's a 13WL casting mark on them, then you could at least explore that as an option vs. ending your season over a leaky piston seal.

I'm also genuinely curious about this as I thought dodge had a big brake kit for the JKU that upped it's towing capacity to 5,000lbs. I don't know much about Teraflex but is it possible they are rebranding that kit? I dunno, I'm a Toyota guy... Just thinking of options as this is a really simple fix if you just had the parts.

I did a little digging on this and from what I can tell, it is a proprietary caliper design. That's not to say there isn't a caliper you couldn't bolt on to replace them in the mean time. Well either way, good luck and hopefully you'll get it resolved.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I can’t believe that they sent you reconditioned calipers after your first warranty claim. I guess it’s why Terraflex is more and more known as Terrorflex, especially in your case. I hope it gets sorted and you find satisfaction. Too bad Dynatrac doesn’t make their Pro Grips for JL.
