Hey folks - I am considering adding rear wheel diff lock to my Bronco order.

I have zero interest in climbing rocks with my Bronc. I'm mainly interested in some rustic and semi-rugged trails, as well as snow roving.

Is the rear diff lock worth the extra $800?

What say ye?

I think it is if you're doing snowplowing and trails. Being able to lock wheels when traction isn't awesome is nice. Is it $800 nice? That's up to you haha. Most have limited slip, carry some traction boards, winch, etc. it's always a tossup, but I won't ever get a 4x4 without locking diffs because I do a lot of off-roading.

The fact that you’re unsure should tell you that you probably should save your money. New 4x4’s with open differentials now have Brake Lock Differential or “BLD” as part of the traction control scheme. While lockers are always the first choice, BLD greatly increases traction and in many cases can be as effective without risking drivetrain damage like a locker does.

I think if you’re not planning to crawl or climb, then probably not.

It sounds like something similar to a Eaton TruTrac might be a good option for you. Of course its aftermarket so that's a downside or an upside depending who you ask.
