Thank you very much Dick Schmidt for building AND donating a new drag AND bringing your skid steer last Saturday! Thank you Sara Nelson and Eirik Nelson for renting the wood chipper, making the signs, donating lunch, coffee, and refreshments and inviting us into your home for a lunch break! Thanks to all who came to the trail building day, we got a lot done and all the ski trails groomed, bypass built for the 4x4 trails, and a great start on the cleanup of the northern parking lot!

Sara Nelson has informed me that they will be providing us with hot coca, coffee and they're inviting us to their house for a warm lunch tomorrow. I'll bring totes of safety vests as well and It's advised to bring blaze orange or light colored clothing if you have it. Dick Schmidt designed and made a drag we're going to try out and people are bringing things, tractors, etc. it sounds like. I can't thank you all enough for helping out!!!!

Sara Nelson and I talked today and She came up with the idea to make the northern entrance the 4x4 entrance during winter. The trails designated for skiiing will be all of the southern entrance up to upper glacial pass (intersection 5) down to intersection 9 and then back down campsite road to intersection 2 down to intersection 1. This makes 2 ski loops but leaves us with most of the 4x4 trails. Maybe we can connect lorheys legend to second sister, we talked about it and there's room to avoid upper glacial pass yet connect things.

This is awesome that the camp really wants to keep RL4WD's as a recreation throughout the winter! That being said, the lowline trail will need to freeze over before we can use it until we can get some rock in there. We'll focus on helping the camp clear brush to make a parking lot at the northern entrance for us.

Sara is going to rent a wood chipper to start clearing brush (unless someone has one?) for Saturday

Jesse Payne is working on getting some I Beam to make a heavy drag for behind the Jeep to fill in the ruts. I'ts our hope that we can have this done before Saturday but we'll see.

Dick Schmidt will be donating his time and the skid steer to help. I'd think we'd want to fill the hole up from intersection 1, the hole just down from intersection 3 on campsite trail by those bathrooms first. Then Maybe we can use a jeep and drag the ski loop to make it as flat as possible? Past that, being the muck won't be frozen, the skid steer won't likely be much help on the trails. We could focus on using it to move branches and such at the northern entrance.

I'd like to order a few loads of rock and have them at the northern end of the parking lot so Eirik, Dick, etc. can use that pile to fill in the lowline trail as time permits. Best guesstimate is that trail will eat up 10-60 yards of our normal fist-sized rock. We can only store maybe 10-30 yards at the end of the parking lot at a time and have to clear that idea with Sara and Eirik but Did did clear that area a season ago to make it possible.

There's a few areas that need brushing yet so anyone with a shovel, loppers etc. that can make it, we'd appreciate any and all the help we can get!

I didn't order any rock because of this and we may just move and flatten what we can with what we have. I didn't want to risk leaving a pile of rock at the entrance which the dump truck guys will do if they feel they'll get stuck bringing it into the back.

We can't even get through that with the Jeeps anymore. Wanted to fill it with larger rock to let water flow but allow us to use that trail, not sure how viable that is. Or we were going to keep it a water crossing and add rocks to the bottom so we could at least get through it.   More ...

    • By making that entrance usable, we always had the idea of Jeep rides at xmas at sinawa and fall family day without interference with the horses.
