This event is capped at 20 rigs confirmed RSVP is only considered when buying the event ticket http://ow.ly/OvOd30qgEfv. Ticket price will include admission costs for both private properties. Join us for a fun-filled day of Overlanding across Southeast Wisconsin up to Door County on February 29th, 2020! This is the official Eastern Wisconsin leg of the Southern Wisconsin Overlanding Tour (SWOT). This trip requires you to have your valid premium member badge. Our journey begins in the Door County area and we'll snake down SEWI gravel and unserviced public roads we've mapped along with 2 private property trails we help manage. This route will generally be level 2-5 trails and many will be fully covered in snow.

This ride will begin at 8 am SHARP. Once you pre-register, you'll be messaged with the exact location we'll be starting at. Try and be on location around 7:30 am so we can sign waivers, check rigs and be rolling by 8 am. There is a fair amount of ground to cover so we have to keep moving and start early.

Some of these trails are unconfirmed. That means that we'll be the first group to verify if a trail our route is clear and legal to run. Some on the fly adjustments may be required. We'll be taking loads of pictures and video as we confirm this route that'll be added to the directory once we're finished.

Please make sure your rig has all the required gear here - https://rl4wd.com/event/rigchecklist and waiver read and filled out here - https://rl4wd.com/event/waiver We'll have copies on-site, if you print yours, be sure to print them in color.

All adults 18 and older will be required to have a profile on rl4wd.com. Only one has to be premium, the rest can be free accounts - https://rl4wd.com/member/join/online

You'll need a valid drivers license, vehicle insurance, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, recovery strap, front and rear tow points, secured battery, things to drink and eat, CB/HAM radio and it's highly recommended to have mud or snow tires, winch, lift, skid plates and working 4Low. Your rig must be in good working order and be safe and legal to drive at 55mph. We do not take interstate roads on this trip.

If you wish to join us on Washington Island, you'll need to purchase a ferry ticket across and back. I do not advise buying your ticket until we know the weather. The weather changes quickly up there, the costs for transport (about $40 round-trip for a rig and 1 driver) are at - https://wisferry.com/washington-island. Details will be emailed to you.

We don't know how much time this route will take. It's vital that you have a working HAM/CB. Don't wait to check your radio an hour before you leave. Get it working right ASAP!

We will bring an air station in the event we need to air tires down, this way we can air tires back up.

We plan to stop and take a break at fuel stations about once every 2 hours (sometimes about once an hour). Being this is a long trip with many miles to get it done, it's not advised for young children or those who have to use the bathroom more than once an hour. In most cases, something like this is done over a weekend, not in one day. If you wish to take your time, please consider joining us for a summer trip over a winter trip.

Be well-rested and ready to drive. Bring coffee or a stimulant in case you find yourself getting tired. You will not be forced to do something you do not want to do such as rock crawls or hill trails. It's OK to wait those sections out or hop in with another person to experience the fun, even if your rig or your experience isn't ready to do such things. Our goal is to have a fun and safe time exploring Wisconsin trails and backroads. Please dress in layers and have boots in the event you get stuck in the snow. You'll be expected to attach recovery gear to your rig yourself for liability reasons. Trail Ambassadors and those helping spot you are volunteers, not paid staff. We're here to help you, but your rig and passengers are your responsibility.

Most of the trails we're taking will be wide with minimal chances of scratching up your rig. That being said, bring a loppers or brush cutting sheers, hand saw, etc. if you think your rig may get scratched on some trail.

I'm not opposed to breaking this up into two days. I doubt we'll get through the entire tour in one day when we want to take time to scout, map, take pictures and videos, and get everything ready to list this entire tour for our members. People are free to come and go as they please, but I'm very dedicated to making sure this entire thing is mapped before Spring. If we lose daylight, that's usually where I stop because I can't keep taking pictures and videos. Being it's close enough to home, we could all agree to meet back somewhere the following day.

This is the beauty of overlanding. Most people set up their rigs so that they can drive, explore, camp, and eat all without stopping. This is the first of many over landing adventures this year and this type of riding can be much different over crawling at facilities. Doug Richter, David Vogel, Tim Koziol and others already have over landing setups for things like this. Because we are in a higher population area, we can also list on the route where to stay. Again because we have a smaller group on this one, we have the freedom as the group to decide these things. There are a lot of trails to cover, lots to see!

If anyone wanted to try a group winter camp I do have a 17x32 GP medium with liner, 6 bunk bed GI cots we would need to get a wood stove but there are stove pipe holes in the roof and a ground cloth... its a bigger job but we used to camp very comfortably in it for a week deer hunting.... had LP humpfrey lamps too....

If there is interest perhaps it could be donated to Sinawa for wintercamping ? but it takes a group of at least 5/6 to set up in 2 hours if everyone is on track. We typically had heat in under 3 hours of starting set up....

As for this trip depending on where and cost I may be in for a saturday over night ?
