There are a lot of things going on in Wisconsin and the RL4WDA is helping pave the way for more trail access. This group is set up to inform our members and community about important issues we're dealing with on a statewide level. Many of these things will require your voice, your vote and together, we can keep expanding riding trails in this great state!

Please share and invite your friends to this group to stay up to date on things we're doing.

Our information was shared with the new Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation at a meeting yesterday. We'll continue to work with this new office (see the VIP video on how this formed)  https://rl4wd.com/blog/wi-vip-ride-2019.

The Conservation Congress meets on the same day as our charity run. I'm sending this letter, trifold and cards for each of the members along with my ol man (who represents watva.org). Our hope is to get recreations talking about Slow Speed Trails in 2020 so we can start making them and a funding program to build them with. Please feel free to use this verbiage in local requests as well as you see fit.

Alexander Bub Luana Schneider and I had a tremendous hour-plus meeting with Sara and Tom from DNR in the Northern Highland State Forest. As you may know, that master plan was revised to include 4x4, ATV/UTV, and motorcycles as defined recreations recently. Our meeting today focused on what RL4WD and the new 4x4 Coalition want, how we can help identify trails and routes we want and an action plan for 2020.

We discussed the limited map listings we added from that area in April, what slow speed trails are, and how to have the DNR identify unimproved roads that would be suitable for tours and routes through their forest.

Discussions also included training, trail cleanup, funding, insurance, events, and I brought about the idea for doing a fundraiser or volunteer event to replant trees (since the DNR has a great nursery to use for such things).

You'll see some of the DNR folks making profiles on RL4WD, downloading our map data, and reviewing what people have posted, images, map files so that they can review, make suggested changes, and help us list the most preferred routes. DNR staff will consider many factors, including nesting habitats, timber sales, soil types, hunting, other user groups, and our suggestions for the types of trails we'd like to see.

Overall, it was a very positive meeting that will aid our groups in furthering 4x4 recreational opportunities for public use. We used our current examples of Tigerton, Sinawa, the Trail Rating System, and more. Alex did an excellent job of coming up with a powerpoint as well, which served as a backbone for our meeting.
