  • Elizabeth Reilly confirmed those dates as well. She's also on the fire dept and will see if we can work out some rollover training for the Tigerton classes.

Ryan Harden created a new event

Scandinavia Property Brushing and Mapping | Premium Members Only | Private Trails Location

We'll be meeting at the Cenex again to head over to one of the new RL4WD locations. We'll be brushing trails, skidding logs, and mapping trails. Bring plenty of water, over the ankle boots, layers of clothing, etc. Bring your badge. If you lost your badge, I can make you a new one - https://rl4wd...

If bringing a chainsaw, please have eye, head, ear, and leg protection. Here's a whole kit for $80 https://amzn.to/2E92QRm as an example. There are about 5 or so tress down we need to cut up.

Bring loppers, brush cutters, and such. There isn't too much ground cover in most areas so weed whackers won't really be needed.

We'll break out into teams. The first objective is to tackle the trails closest to the road. We'll park at the base of the entrance and walk in. With 5-10 people, we'll make short work out of most of this. With 15-20 people we'll knock out all the brushing just after lunch I'd bet and enjoy the trails the rest of the afternoon.

Do not cut logs short. Please cut straight logs 8'8", 10'8" or 12'8" so they can be harvested by the landowner. We want the tractor to be able to pass all trails and then make waypoints and bypasses where we hit the rocks and logs... and there are a lot of places to do that! Just don't cut down any trees without first clearing it with the landowner. He's been building these trails for 40 years, you won't have to worry about bushwhacking here much. We can make short work of clearing these trails.

We'll number the intersections and map the property, but it won't likely go in the directory. It'll be available to Trail Ambassadors only who want to build a relationship with the landowner and then take small groups for rides out there from time to time. This property is simply amazing and would make a great supplement to Tigerton weekends being only 45ish minutes from the park.

There isn't anything really to eat in the area so pack food with you. Again, bring plenty of water. I'll try and bring some thermoses and coffee and such as well.

I'll bring the electric saw, brush cutters etc. people can use as well but it's best to bring your own gear. I might just bring the camper so I can bring the generator, bathroom, air compressor, etc. Airing down will be very useful here.

Any questions, please post them. This will be for premium members only since those are the funds that'll make the signs and maybe gates if they want them. Waivers and rig checklists will be gathered. Bring a GMRS or Ham radio. If you don't have one get a cheap handheld from a box store or something like this - https://amzn.to/35NOCAO. We won't be in our rigs much when brushing so a handheld is a great tool.

  • There hasn't been a request for one but it could easily be done if there were enough people.

Here is a list of the Field Days I would like to put together to certify Trail Ambassadors for Divisions 1,2, and 3 in 2021. While the "test out" date is only on Saturday, we would likely be riding Friday night and Sunday.

Once the dates are confirmed, and I didn't screw up and book it on a holiday or something Jess Harden had planned, I'll toss them in the event calendar.

All dates are for the year 2021:

    January 9th - Camp Sinawa (4X4)
    February 13th - Camp Sinawa (4X4)
March 13th - Camp Sinawa (4X4) (With Guide Certification)
    May 15th - Tigerton (4X4/ATV/UTV/Motorcycle)
    June 12th - Tigerton (4X4/ATV/UTV/Motorcycle)
    July 10th - Tigerton (4X4/ATV/UTV/Motorcycle)
    August 14th - Tigerton (4X4/ATV/UTV/Motorcycle)
September 11th - Camp Sinawa (4X4)(With Guide Certification)
    October 9th - Tigerton (4X4/ATV/UTV/Motorcycle)

Classroom sessions would be done online so we have a lot more time to work on skill checks.
